Six String Brewing to keep trading after creditors approve restructure

Six String Brewing Company will continue trading after creditors voted in favour of a restructuring deal, the business says, returning control of the Erina brewery to founder and director Chris Benson.

The vote approves a Deed of Company Arrangement, known as a DOCA, after the company entered voluntary administration in June. Six String says it can now turn its attention back to brewing, live music and the taproom.

Six String says creditors voted for the DOCA, allowing the business to keep trading and returning control to Benson and the Six String team.

For customers, the immediate point is that Six String says it will keep operating. Its website continues to list opening hours, bookings and events at The Sawmill on The Entrance Road, Erina.

The result does not answer every public question about the administration. The company says there is still work ahead; its public statements do not set out the terms of the DOCA, what individual creditors will receive, or whether every supplier and customer arrangement is unchanged.

In its announcement, Six String thanked staff, customers, suppliers, fellow breweries and the wider community for their support. Benson said the business was looking forward to focusing on a stronger and more sustainable operation.
