Woman refused bail after four-year-old found dead at Wyong unit

A 32-year-old woman charged with the domestic violence-related murder of a four-year-old child at Wyong has been refused bail.

Police said the woman presented to Wyong Police Station about 4.40pm on Saturday, prompting officers to carry out a welfare check.

Officers went to a unit on Byron Street, where they found the body of the child.

Tuggerah Lakes District Superintendent Chad Gillies said the child had injuries, but police would not speculate further on them.

Police confirmed the woman and child lived together at the Wyong property. The woman cannot be identified.

Superintendent Gillies said police were seeking information from anyone who knew the woman and child.

Police and emergency services personnel who attended the scene are receiving support.

The woman did not appear in court for the bail hearing. NSW Legal Aid represented her and requested that a medical warrant be endorsed.

The matter is due to return to Wyong court on September 1.

Anyone with information has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
